For their April monthly meeting Guild Members met to paint in response to the demo by visiting artist Simon Morriss in November 2023. They determined to take as their subject sunlight through trees using any medium they chose to use.

Materials chosen were pastel (Jim and Antonetta), watercolour (Mike), gouache (Sonia) and acrylics (Joy and Ann). Inspiration came from photographs and, in my case, pure imagination.

Please enjoy a few photos from this enjoyable evening of painting.

Mike produced a delicate watercolour in sepia tones.

Sonia used gouache to produce a loose sketch.

Ann worked with acrylics. “I later finished the piece which is shown below”.

Jim worked in pastels to depict a sunlit azalea seen through twisting branches.

Joy’s completed landscape in acrylics

Antonetta had to dash off before I could capture her work in pastels.
