Clive George
The Guild is sad to announce the passing of our dear friend and colleague Clive George in April 2024. Clive served as Guild Treasurer for many years and was very active in his support of the Guild and its aims. His wonderful oil paintings delighed all who saw them and we will preserve this page as a memorial to him so that visitors may continue to appreciate his talent.
About the Artist
At the age of 21, Clive emigrated to what was then Rhodesia, now Zimbabwe. It was here that he first started painting and encountered oil paints and their wonderful buttery consistency.
Painting African wildlife was a subject very close to Clive's heart. Returning from Rhodesia Clive married and became sales director of an international company which enabled him to travel the world and become more aware of scenes and subjects to paint. Consequently, he enjoyed painting virtually every subject including portraits.
